What Is Moisture-Wicking Fabric?
Moisture-wicking fabric is polyester engineered at the fiber level to actively transport sweat away from your skin and distribute it across a larger surface area for rapid evaporation. Unlike cotton, which absorbs moisture and holds it against your body like a sponge, wicking fabric uses capillary action through engineered fiber channels to keep you dry during physical exertion.
The science is straightforward but the engineering is precise: polyester fibers are extruded with specialized cross-sections (trilobal, tetra-channel, or hollow) that create microscopic capillaries. The inner surface of the fabric receives a hydrophilic treatment that attracts moisture, while the outer surface remains hydrophobic. This creates a one-way moisture transport system — sweat moves out but can't soak back in.
Our wicking range covers standard polyester wicking (the workhorse), interlock wicking (premium hand feel), mesh wicking (maximum airflow), wicking-cotton blends (casual performance), and compression wicking (high-stretch base layers). Every construction is tested to AATCC 195 (liquid moisture management), AATCC 201 (drying time), ISO 12947 (abrasion/pilling), and AATCC 61 (colorfastness to washing — Grade 4+ minimum).

Best Methods for Wicking Fabric
Polyester-based wicking fabric is the most print-friendly sportswear substrate available — sublimation is its superpower.

All-Over Sublimation
The #1 reason brands choose wicking polyester. Sublimation bonds dye at the molecular level with polyester fibers — unlimited colors, photographic detail, gradients, and the print becomes part of the fabric. Zero impact on wicking, breathability, or stretch. The print literally cannot peel, crack, or fade because it's not a surface layer.

Screen Printing
Plastisol inks are the standard for wicking fabric — they're durable, opaque, and cost-effective for larger runs. For a softer hand, we recommend water-based poly inks that penetrate the fabric surface. Screen print is ideal for simple logos, team names, and sponsor placements where all-over print isn't needed.

DTF / Heat Transfer
Ideal for small batches, individual customization, and complex designs that don't justify screen setup costs. We use ultra-thin polyurethane films designed for stretch fabrics — they move with the garment and don't crack. Best for player names, numbers, and short-run custom orders under 50 pieces.
