What Is Polyamide Fabric?
Polyamide fabric — universally known by DuPont's trade name "nylon" — is a synthetic polymer (polyamide 6, or PA6) woven or knitted into one of the most durable textiles available. First commercialized in 1939, polyamide remains the undisputed champion of abrasion resistance among all apparel fibers, outperforming polyester by 2–3× and cotton by 10× in standardized wear tests. Its exceptionally high tensile strength, low moisture absorption, and silky smooth hand make it the foundation fabric for technical outerwear, running apparel, and high-durability garments.

Every roll is tested for abrasion resistance (≥40,000 cycles Martindale, ISO 12947-1), tensile strength (warp ≥450N, weft ≥350N at standard test conditions), tear strength (≥25N ISO 13937-2), air permeability (configurable for wind resistance or breathability), colorfastness to washing (Grade 4+, ISO 105-C06), and dimensional stability (<1.5% after washing — polyamide is extremely dimensionally stable).

Best Methods for Polyamide Fabric

DTF / Heat Transfer
The best all-around decoration method for polyamide — DTF transfers adhere excellently to both coated and uncoated nylon surfaces. Ultra-thin TPU films stretch with the fabric without cracking and maintain flexibility even on lightweight 20D taffeta. Ideal for logo placement on windbreakers, brand marks on jackets, and small-batch customization. Works on ALL polyamide types including coated and bonded.

Screen Printing
Works on heavier polyamide constructions (Oxford, heavyweight taffeta above 50D) — the smooth surface accepts plastisol and water-based inks well for bold, solid-color designs. Not suitable for lightweight taffeta (under 40D) — the fabric is too thin and flexible for consistent screen contact. Best for large chest/back prints on jackets, team names on windbreakers, and sponsor logos on Oxford-based garments.

Rubber / Silicone Print
The traditional method for outdoor and windbreaker branding — rubber or silicone-based prints create a slightly raised, flexible logo that's highly visible against the smooth nylon surface. Extremely durable in outdoor conditions — rubber prints withstand rain, UV, and abrasion better than most other methods. The characteristic look has become an aesthetic standard for windbreakers and running shells worldwide.
