What Makes Cycling Fabric Different?
Cycling fabric is not a single material — it's a coordinated system of specialized polyester-spandex fabrics, each engineered for a specific body zone and performance demand. A single premium cycling kit may use 3–5 different fabrics across its panels, each selected for its aerodynamic, thermal, or structural properties.
Our cycling fabric range covers six specialized constructions: aero Lycra (80–120 GSM), dimple-texture aero mesh (100–130 GSM), ventilation mesh (80–110 GSM), thermal Roubaix (240–280 GSM), gripper fabric with silicone integration (180–220 GSM), and chamois pad interface fabric (140–160 GSM).
Every cycling fabric batch passes testing for 4-way stretch and recovery (ASTM D3107), air permeability (ASTM D737), moisture management (AATCC 195), UV protection (UPF 50+ per AS/NZS 4399), colorfastness (Grade 4+ after 50 washes), pilling resistance (ISO 12945-2 Grade 4+), and sublimation ink adhesion (wash-test at 60°C for 20 cycles).

One Kit, Multiple Fabrics
Premium cycling garments use different fabrics in different body zones — each optimized for its specific function.
Main Body Panels
Front, back, and shoulder panels. Smooth surface minimizes aerodynamic drag. 4-way stretch provides compression fit. Primary sublimation surface for team graphics, sponsors, and design elements.
Ventilation Zones
Side panels, underarms, and upper back. Open-knit or dimple-texture mesh maximizes airflow where heat builds up. Typically sublimated in a matching or contrasting color to the main body.
Grip & Hem Zones
Jacket hems, sleeve ends, and bib short leg bands. Higher GSM provides structure for silicone dot application. Prevents garment ride-up during aggressive riding position and out-of-saddle efforts.
Chamois Interface
Bib short inner panel where the chamois pad is bonded. Soft, breathable, and non-abrasive surface that protects skin from pad edges during thousands of pedal strokes. Must bond permanently with pad adhesive.

Decoration Methods for Cycling Fabrics
Sublimation dominates cycling — but understanding the alternatives and their limitations is important for specific use cases.

Sublimation Printing
The only method that produces true all-over print on cycling fabric — dye becomes part of the polyester fiber itself. Unlimited colors, photographic detail, zero hand-feel, and it stretches with the fabric without cracking. This is how 95%+ of cycling kits worldwide are decorated. The smooth aero Lycra surface produces the sharpest sublimation results of any sportswear fabric.

Screen Printing
Used exclusively for sponsor logos on pre-dyed (non-sublimated) cycling garments — typically club and amateur team kits where full sublimation isn't in budget. Requires stretch-grade plastisol ink. Limited to discrete logo placements — cannot do all-over print. Increasingly rare in cycling as sublimation costs have decreased, but still relevant for high-volume basic team kits.

Reflective / Specialty
Not a primary decoration method, but critical for cycling — reflective heat-transfer elements are applied over sublimated fabric for low-light visibility. Also includes silicone grip dot application (not a print, but part of the decoration process), and reflective tape or logo application for commuter and winter cycling garments where safety is paramount.
